The Workshop Support Services

Work
The goal of the program is to provide job training and real work opportunities for individuals with disabilities according to their needs and abilities. Individuals may work on the production floor, in the laundry, or in community janitorial services.

Wellness
The goal of the program is to enhance the minds, bodies and spirits of consumers and staff. Water bottles provide for good hydration. Word of the week enhances speech and understanding. Individual counseling and behavior intervention are available to consumers that have behavioral issues prior to a crisis occurring. A Master Level Counselor provides this service.

Educational Instruction
The goal of this program is to provide basic academic, social, vocational and personal skill training based on the individual needs of the consumer. Classes are taught in small groups or on a one-to-one basis, based on appropriateness and need. Class topics are determined by individual need and can include computer skill classes, check book balancing, money management, math improvement, and sign language.

Social Skills & Activities
The goal of this program is to provide social skills instruction and opportunities to learn community leisure resources for the consumers that have difficulty maintaining concentration on work for an entire day. The population of the Workshop is aging. Within the Social Skills program there is the Senior program which provides social skill instruction and leisure activities for individuals who are 50 years of age or older and who are less able to maintain the energy to work for the full day.

Recreation
The goal of the program is to provide meaningful recreational and leisure skill building opportunities for the consumers to interact when production expectations are low.
