Health and Wellness

 

The Health and Wellness Program strives to enhance the minds, bodies and spirits of the individuals we serve.

​

Developmental Skills

The goal of this program is to provide basic academic, social, vocational and personal skill training. Areas of focus include:

  • Fine and Gross Motor Skills

  • Attention Span Development

  • Safety

  • Problem Solving

  • Grooming

  • Communication Skills

​

Classes

Classes are offered based on the interest and need of the individuals we serve. Class topics may include:

  • Travel and Culture Courses

  • Fun Facts

  • Current Events

  • Sign Language

​

Exercise and Nutrition

Exercise is offered at The Workshop's on-site exercise area,  or, when weather permits, the individuals enjoy outdoor walks.

 

The nutrition program is managed by on-site certified food managers ensuring a healthy, hot lunch is available daily. The Workshop provides free water bottles during the work day for hydration.

Special Events

The Workshop hosts special events for the individuals we serve and staff members to enjoy a break from everyday work. Special events may include a Spring Fling Dance, Halloween Dance, themed weeks and holiday parties.

​

Community Outings

The Workshop offers small group individualized community outings to enrich, expand, entertain and empower our individuals. The activities are of their choosing, examples of outings experienced:

  • Shopping

  • Picnics

  • Coffee for 50+ age group

  • Lunch

  • Community Events

​

Adventure for All

The Adventure for All program allows individuals to choose two local outings each session.  Small groups of 5-6 individuals of similar age and interests participate in the trips of their choice for the day.  Examples of trips include:

  • Bowling

  • Manicures

  • Pottery Painting

  • Movie

  • Thrift Store Shopping
